Peripheral Vascular Intervention Experts in Mt Prospect

At Infinity Vascular Institute, we are committed to saving limbs and resolving peripheral artery disease and critical limb ischemia using minimally invasive technology.

Our peripheral vascular intervention treatments help to restore blood flow to the upper and lower extremities caused by blocked arteries – thereby preventing amputations while improving the quality of life for our patients.

Our outpatient environment ensures you can comfortably and safely return home 4-6 hours following your procedure.

Peripheral Vascular Intervention Treatment

Peripheral vascular intervention treatments primarily include angioplasty and either a stent or atherectomy. Angioplasty is a procedure that increases blood flow by using a balloon to compress the plaque against the artery wall, reducing its effect on blood flow. A stent is then inserted to ensure the affected area does not restrict blood flow once the balloon is deflated. (Click here for details and an example image.)

Atherectomy removes plaque from the affected area by either breaking it up and removing it, by vaporizing plaque using a laser, or by breaking plaque into microscopic particles to be released into the bloodstream and disposed of naturally.

The team at Infinity Vascular Institute are committed to bringing patients innovative treatments and technology. Each year, the team at Infinity Vascular Institute attends several conferences and trainings to learn the latest advancements in cardiovascular care.
